Today has been a good day. After weeks of unemployment, endless wedding crafting, days and days of rain in Chicago, days and days of hot and dry and wildfires in my home state of Texas, massive tornados and many other terrible things in the world, I woke up to sunny skies and just in time to see the Royal Kiss.
I wasn’t one to be obsessed about William and Kate’s wedding. Sure I was excited to see her dress but I didn’t expect to enjoy the coverage so much. It was wonderful to see something happy and positive on the world stage than the constant doom and gloom of late. Continue reading
Chicago is hot this summer. I don’t know if it is because I have now lived in the midwest for 4 years (4! Years!) and haven’t experienced a months worth of 100+ temps, or just that I am out enjoying summer more this time around with marathon training, weekly beach volleyball games, and traveling by bike wherever possible but…Chicago is hot this summer. The past week has been a total whirlwind. I took my last law school final, had my parents in town for 5 days, graduated from law school Sunday afternoon and started the bar review marathon called Bar/Bri Monday at 9AM. Needless to say, there has been much celebration and wonderful meals out with friends and family, but no time in my kitchen (or even to watch many TV Finales-Greys, Lost, GG). Today was also the first day where the temperature has been in the 80s in Chicago. After a long winter and damp “spring,” the warmth is much appreciated. The perfect thing for a warm sunny evening is this cocktail.
