I don’t know where you live, but here in the Northeast, where I am visiting for the holidays, is in the process of getting WHACKED by a Blizzard.  Usually, I would be quite excited by the prospect of feet rather than mere inches of snow, but it forced us to postpone a Boxing Day Party, and cancel a trip to Boston for the Revels Show at Harvard.   Now we are just having a lazy day around the house.  And in my opinion, the best thing to do on a lazy day is bake up a batch of cookies. Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

The holidays have a new sorta sparkle on them this year.  I am not currently waist deep into finals.  I have a new string of jingle bells hanging from our front door.  My holiday cards are in the mail and my gifts are purchased (and wrapped!) under our tree. We leave for PA to celebrate the holidays with Dave’s family in a week where we will be met with cooking/baking in a nice kitchen, cute golden retrievers, lots of wine, and great people. Chocolate Pecan Tarts

Rich (Dave’s Dad) and I divided and conquered the dinner portion of the Thanksgiving meal, while Dave, his sister and his mom were in charge of the desserts. Deb (mom) and Betsy (sister) made these absolutely wonderful tarts. I simply just stole them for a picture. Can you believe that this above picture is straight out of the camera, with only a little cropping? It’s amazing what some really nice natural light can do. I love my old town high-rise apartment, but I can’t say that we get good light in it. Continue reading
